I Heart Art – Art Auction Fundraiser

‘You are what you imagine, you imagine what you read, and good books open worlds. All of us who support the Indigenous Literacy Project know this intuitively, but we also know that such inspiration can’t exist without an opportunity, and that’s something we can all help to provide.’ Shaun Tan.

Join Shaun Tan, the award-winning writer and illustrator of The Lost Thing, The Red Tree, The Arrival and Tales from Outer Suburbia, as he talks about creating picture books and demonstrates the creative process in action as he completes one of his highly-sought-after illustrations.

Raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Project by supporting this rare exhibition of paintings and drawings from Australia’s best-loved children’s books, including work by Kerry Argent, Bronwyn Bancroft, Freya Blackwood, Terry Denton, Bob Graham, Peter Gouldthorpe, Leigh Hobbs, Dee Huxley, Ann James, Stephen Michael King, Frané Lessac, Alison Lester, Jan Ormerod, Matt Ottley, Emma Quay, Tohby Riddle, Elaine Russell, Craig Smith, Shaun Tan, Julie Vivas and Bruce Whatley.

All artwork, including Shaun’s illustration, will be auctioned or for sale on the night, and all proceeds go to the Indigenous Literacy Project.

The exhibition will remain on display at Kinokuniya from 26 August to 1 September.

$35 entry fee (plus booking fee) includes a special performance from internationally acclaimed musician Old Man River, light refreshments and a chance to win a beautiful limited edition Alison Lester print.
